On the 27th August ‘16, various clubs operational at DSBA conducted club activities during the college hours. Students were informed about the activities prior to the events and they registered their names for the activities with the faculty in charge of the respective clubs. All the events were held during the college hours.

Event: Essay Writing Competition
Topic ‘Save the Girl Child-a slogan made popular after Rio Olympics....
But Girl Child should be saved in the interest of humanity!!!!!

The competition was held in the seminar hall on the ground floor between 1:50 pm and 4:30 pm.The competition was open to all students at DSBA. The topic was given to the students one day prior to the event. Students were given a choice of language i.e. they could write the essay topic in either English, Hindi or Kannada.The minimum word limit was 400 words. 46 students participated in the competition.

‘Sadhana’ IT Club
Event: Group Discussion on IT topics.
Judges: Prof Meera Krishnan & Mr. Basil-Corporate Relations Manager
The event was held in the Computer Lab on the ground floor between 10 am and 1:30 pm.Eight teams of nine students each participated in the group discussion. The judges gave the topics to the teams & the students had two minutes to think about what they wanted to speak. Ten minutes were given to each team to discuss about the topic. The topics were wide ranging and covered all arenas of IT. Winner and runners up of every team-14 students - made it to the final round. The finalists were made into two teams. Same topic was given to both-Which do you consider more important-College /course? The last round saw enthusiastic responses from the students. In fact, to such an extent that even after the time limit the students wanted the discussion to go on.

Event: Stress Interview

The event was held in Room 101 between 10am and 1pm.There was tremendous response for this club activity as 123 students registered for the event. Three rounds were conducted. In the first round, 123 students answered the aptitude test.25 students were chosen for the second round which was the ice-breakers. In the final round, 7 students underwent the stress interview.

‘Arebus’Finance Club
Event: A detailed budget for hosting the International Conference to be held on 24th and 25th Oct’16
Judges: Prof Pravesh Soti & Prof Meera Seshanna
Three students made a team and there were six teams in all. Students had to make PowerPoint presentation of the budget .Both income and expenditure had to be accounted for in the prepared budget. Every team was allotted seven minutes for presentation and three minutes were allotted for question and answer session.
This exercise was designed to encourage students to consider the role saving plays in financial planning. At the end of the activity, students understood how their budgets can support a good financial decision making.

‘Mercado Termino’Marketing Club
Event: Green Marketing

Fourteen teams consisting of two students each participated in the collage making competition. The teams had to procure the materials required for the competition themselves. The collages were judged on the basis of originality of idea, content and aesthetic sense incorporated. The time given for making the collage was one hour. The competition was held in the noon between 12:50 pm and 4:30 pm in room 110.
