Presentation on the FDP attended by Faculties

On 3rd Feb’17, Dr Mudita, Prof Roopashree, Prof SivaSelvi and Prof Usha attended a FDP at Amity Global Business School .The workshop began at 9 am and was day long. The participation was on first- come- first – serve basis. The topic for the FDP was ‘Teaching the Generation NeXt”. All the participants received a participation certificate.

The eminent speakers were Dr Gururaj Karajagi, an Independant Education Management Consultant; Dr N Jayasankaran, DG-BIM, Trichy; Mr Vijay RajaGopal,Director—VidyaNiketan Public School;Mr Pavan Soni,IIM Bangalore;Mr Ramesh Jude Thomas ,President Equity Value Advisory;Mr Giri Subramaniam& Ms Rashmi Furtado from Grey caps India Pvt Ltd.

Prof Roopashree, Prof SivaSelvi and Prof Usha shared the valuable inputs of the workshop with all the DSBA faculties. Dr [Brig] Sandes, Principal- DSBA, Dr Veena K N, Dean –DSBA and Prof Nikitha –HOD were also present during the presentation.

All the attendees of the workshop unanimously agreed that Dr Gururaj imparted exceptional knowledge and many suggestions and advice rendered by him can be practically used by all facilitators in the classroom teaching.

Few points recounted by the attendees:

  • Go beyond the syllabus
  • Connect with real time
  • Prepare for the class essentially
  • Spend five mins minimum to talk about the current world
  • Inform the students what is new in the global arena
  • Don’t just prepare the students for minimum marks
  • Help students understand and analyze the concept in real time
  • State examples from the virtual world and avoid book examples
  • Most importantly, understand student’s multiple intelligence levels before you teach
  • Do have guts to say “I DON’T KNOW”.Answer the question essentially in the very

 next class.

 Make them understand ” YOU ARE A LEARNER”

They also spoke about the activities that were held in the workshop.

All in all, all of them felt the workshop was worth it and requested the Principal to invite the speakers to DSBA too, so that the others can also get enlightened. In this context, Dr Sandes mentioned that there is an in-house expertise –Dr Veena herself!

Dr Sandes appreciated the Faculty’s presentation and he reiterated some of the points and hoped that all faculties incorporate the suggestions and bring in the change in their teaching methodologies.

 

 Prior to the FDP Presentation, Prof Meera Krishnan narrated the activity undertaken by the Literary and IT Club co-jointly on 11 Feb’17 to Melkote & Janpadaloka. IT Club students made short movies on Melkote & Janpadaloka. One of the movies was shown to all present by Mr Kunal, II year BCA student. The voice- over was by Ms Aanchal, also a II year BCA student. Both the Principal and the Dean lauded the efforts of both the students.

 

 After the presentation, Mr Shiva Kumar from OPTRA addressed all and trained the faculties to upload marks so that in addition to the attendance the parents can also see the marks of their wards on OPTRA .He also resolved all issues that the faculty faced in operating the app.

 With that, the staff dispersed to attend the Parents’ Teacher Meeting which was scheduled on the very day.
