Oceanic innovators is an event where entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of potential investors, known as sharks. The sharks are successful business tycoons who may choose to invest their own money in the presented ventures in exchange for equity or a stake in the business. The event provides a platform for student entrepreneurs to gain funding and mentorship from experienced investor.

The Oceanic Innovators Event, held on 21 July 2023, provided a platform for aspiring student entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative business ideas and seek investment from a panel of experienced investors, also known as “sharks.” The event aimed to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy among college students.

Chief Guest Welcoming:

The event commenced with a warm welcome from the Chief Guest, Dr Maria Pramila D’souza. A seasoned financial strategist with more than 15 years of experience Dr Maria emphasized the importance of innovation and encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship as a means to create a positive impact in society. Her insightful speech set the tone for an exciting evening of pitches and investments.

Event Highlights:

• Pitching Rounds: Participating students presented their business concepts in a series of pitching rounds. Each team had a limited time to convince the sharks of the viability and potential of their business idea.
• Diverse Business Ideas: The event witnessed a diverse range of business ideas, spanning technology, sustainability, healthcare, and social entrepreneurship. Students demonstrated their passion and enthusiasm for addressing real-world problems.
• Expert Panel of Sharks: Esteemed entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and investors constituted the panel of sharks. Their vast experience brought invaluable insights to the evaluation process.
• Q&A and Feedback: After each pitch, the sharks engaged in a question-and-answer session with the presenting teams. The feedback provided valuable guidance for refining the business proposals.
• Networking Opportunities: Aside from the pitching rounds, the event provided networking opportunities for students, allowing them to interact with industry professionals and potential mentors.
• Winning Teams and Prizes:

The event concluded with the announcement of the winning teams, which were selected based on their business idea’s uniqueness, potential for growth, and feasibility. Each winning team was awarded a cash prize and trophies.

EVENT -2 TRIATHLON (21 AND 22ND OF JULY)

Finance club had organized one more event for Sagara Tharanga 2k23 , Finance Triathlon a 2 days event which includes 3 different rounds .

ROUND 2 – QUIZPACABLE ME (Which measures the Finance knowledge)

ROUND 3 – DEBATE

Day 1 started with inauguration ceremony and 8 teams had participated in Finance Triathlon Event. participants from various college took part in this event and event had no eliminations.

Day 2: Final round (DEBATE)

To judge this round we had invited resource person, Mr.Anjan kumar, who has rich experience in corporate affaires, accounting ,taxation and many more .

He judged the event on various criteria and 7 teams took part in debate competition.

Formally event was concluded by proposing vote of thanks by Sangeetha, Bcom 2nd sem student and we declared prize winners and issued participatory certificates.

Winning Teams and Prizes:

The event concluded with the announcement of the winning teams, which were selected based on their business idea’s uniqueness, potential for growth, and feasibility. Each winning team was awarded a cash prize and trophies.

Conclusion: The OCEANIC INNOVATORS and FINANCE TRIATHLON events held on 21 July 2023 and 22 of July was a resounding success, fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration among college students. The participating students showcased their creativity, problem-solving skills, and determination to make a positive impact in the business world. The event provided an excellent platform for budding entrepreneurs to receive mentorship, funding, and recognition, setting them on a path towards realizing their entrepreneurial dreams.
